According to the American Academy of Asthma and Immunology, 10 to 30 percent of the population has an allergy. You may find yourself falling victim to sneezing, a stuffy nose and irritated eyes. In order to alleviate the symptoms of spring time allergens, you must focus on the three common sources for allergies which include: pollen, dust mites, and mold. Here are some tips to fight each source so your allergies can be a thing of the past!
When fighting pollen, please be aware that it can be tracked inside on your clothes and shoes. Carpets and upholstery can easily build up pollen during spring, inside your home. Air filters should be regularly cleaned and changed. When the temperature begins to rise, it is beneficial to keep your air conditioning running to circulate air flow. Using a HEPA filter for your vacuum will allow you to extract far more pollen out of your carpet.
When attempting to eliminate dust mites, please be aware that mites feed on mold and can spread spores throughout buildings meaning you have to fight the dust mites to get to the mold. Dust mites can also be found in curtains as well as carpets. You can also combat this issue by vacuuming and maintaining a 30 to 50 percent humidity level. If your carpets need replaced, wood or tile floors are a substance that is harder to dust mites to flourish and grow.
Lastly, in order to fight seasonal allergens you must fight mold. Mold increases during the spring as a result of melting snow and increased outside temperatures. You’ll want to use an all purpose cleaner and a mask to avoid breathing in toxic fumes. Check for leaks in your buildings foundation, pipes and roof. If you find standing water use downspouts to the route the water away from the building.
#1 When cleaning your kitchen: circle your way around!
Always begin on the right side of your stove, then move clockwise around the room! The stove is typically the dirtiest part of the kitchen, so ending with it keeps you from spreading dirt and grease.
#2 When cleaning your bathroom: tame the toilet!
Drop a teaspoon of Tang Drink Mix into the bowl. The citric acid acts like a scrubber and is non-toxic. Let it sit for a few minutes, and then just swish and flush!
#3 When cleaning your living room: Wipe it down!
Use a wet rag and cleaning solution, wipe down the tables, desks, the TV, blinds and window seal as well as patio door. Use an appropriate wood cleaner on wood furniture.
#4 When cleaning your bedroom: Keep your Mattress Clean!
If the mattress is musty, use a commercial foam upholstery cleaner, or mix 1/2 teaspoon liquid dish washing detergent in a quart of warm water. Whip it with an egg beater to get a froth, and apply the suds with a sponge or soft brush without soaking the mattress.
#5 When cleaning your floors (non-carpet): Get swept away!
To sweep, hold the broom like a canoe paddle, with one hand on top of the handle and the other toward the middle. Push your hands in opposite directions to get the most out of every sweeping stroke.
Recently, Clean Works corporate and operational employees had the chance to witness a cleaning tool that is revolutionizing the industry, the I-MOP! What makes it so special? The I-Mop combines the flexibility of a floor mop with the power and speed of industrial scrub drivers. The machine has two interchangeable batteries that allow for up to 90 minutes of cleaning time! The flexibility of the machine allows you to reach corners, behind desk chairs, and areas where you simply could not reach with a mop and bucket.
Clean Works employees had the opportunity to test out the machine on the operations floor and in the front lobby. With hot water, and just a simple cleaning solution the floors came out completely spotless. This machine has the ability to move and change directions at a quick pace. As a result, it can eliminate as much as 30 percent of your overall cleaning time.
I-MOP was originally manufactured in Europe and was brought over to the United States less than two years ago. The machine can be utilized in a school, office, or janitorial setting.

Despite the limited budget that many small businesses face, there are numerous benefits to outsourcing your office cleaning to someone that will get the job done right every time.
#1: You have more time to focus on the priority tasks of your business.
Professional Office cleaners have experience in using the most efficient cleaning methods. Even if you are mopping the floor every day in your lobby, you may only be cleaning a small portion of the dirt that gets left behind. Professional cleaners know how to deal with different types of dirt, and what product is best for a certain stain or contamination. The more time you must deal with cleaning your office, the less time you have to concentrate on your business agenda. This will result in even more money lost, by forcing you and your employees to work longer hours.
#2: Professional Office Cleaning Will Save you Money!
When you hire a full time janitor you will have to pay them an hourly rate, health benefits, paid leave and sick days, etc. When you use a professional cleaning company you pay us only for the amount of time that you need us. Investing in a cleaning service company can save you tens of thousands of dollars over the course of a few years.
#3: Experience, Expertise, and Equipment at your disposal.
To be able to run their business cleaning companies have to get the most advanced tools, products and, yes, people. They invest in educating and training their personnel. They invest in top-of-the-notch equipment, powerful cleaning products, eco-friendly cleaning options.
#4: Cleaning Services Tailored to your Organization’s Needs
Hiring a professional cleaning service means requesting services to fit your company’s specific needs. Whether you are cleaning upholstery, or even carpeting you can create a schedule that fits best to the organization of work in your office.
Clean Works prides itself on giving back to our community, especially for those most in need. Together we are partnering with local Representative Mike Sturla to obtain gently used shoes to donate to lower income children that will be attending school in the fall of 2017.
Representative Sturla currently has an annual backpack drive in which he donates backpacks and school supplies for children to use for school. We feel that having adequate footwear is just as important for students as school supplies on their first day of school.
Currently, we have received a pledge to donate 10 pairs of gently used women’s running shoes from Girls on the Run of Lancaster. If you or a local business you know is interested in donating a pair of children’s sized sneakers please contact us at 717-509-1453 or e-mail our marketing manager at firstname.lastname@example.org

As Spring is approaching many of you will engage in “spring cleaning.” A major part of spring cleaning is cleaning the outside of your windows. Too many people use paper towels, a spray cleaner, and elbow grease. By doing this you are essentially moving dirt in circles and not getting your windows truly clean.
First, you’ll want to use a strip applicator. A strip applicator’s cloth head can knock dirt loose without scratching the glass. For best results soak the applicator in a bucket of warm water with a small amount of dishwashing liquid.
After you’re done you’ll want to squeegee off the window in a reverse S-Pattern. Be sure to wipe off the squeegee’s blade with a lint free rag. You will have spotless windows in no time!
